에스라 4서에 나타난 다윗

에스라 4서에서 '다윗'은 총 세 번(3:23; 7:108; 12:32) 등장한다.

본서에서 '종'은 대체로 에스라에게 사용되는데, 단 한 번 다윗에게 적용된다. 

3:23 So the times passed away, and the years were brought to an end: then YOU raised up for YOURSELF a servant, named David

이 구절에서 다윗은 이스라엘 자신을 위해 등장한 종이다. 앞서 이스라엘은 악에서 떠나지 않았으나, 하나님께서 자신의 토라를 그들 안에서 열매를 맺게 하셨다. 저자는 다윗은 그 열매 중 하나로 간주한다.

3:20 And yet YOU did not take away from them their evil heart, so that YOUR Torah might bring forth fruit in them.

또 다윗은 이스라엘의 위기를 극복한 인물 중 하나이다. 사울의 때에 사무엘이 그러했듯이, 다윗은 열병이 만연할 때 제 역할을 해냈으며, 솔로몬은 성전 건축을 완성한 인물이다.

7:108 And Samuel in the days of Saul, and David for the plague: and Solomon for those in the sanctuary,

마지막으로 다윗의 후손은 후대에 기름 부음 받은 자로 악인들을 책망하는 일을 맡게 된다.

12:32 This is the anointed, which the Most High YAHWEH has kept until the end of days, who will arise from the posterity of David, and will come and speak to them; He will denounce them for their checedlessness and for their wickedness, and will cast up before them their contemptuous dealings.

앞으로 다윗의 후손이 군사적 메시아로 등장하는지, 본서에 등장하는 '아들'이 다윗의 후손을 지칭하는지 살펴봐야 한다.
