The main focus of an academic research paper is to develop a new argument, and a research paper is likely to contain a literature review as one of its parts. In a research paper, you use the literature as a foundation and as support for a new insight that you contribute. The focus of a literature review, however, is to summarize and synthesize the arguments and ideas of others without adding new contributions.

지도 교수님이 나에게 왜 A Literature Review를 하라고 하는지 궁금했는데, 내가 평상시 했던 작업이 바로 A Literature Review에 속하는 것들이었다. 앞으로 자료 조사를 더 해야겠지만, 지금으로서는 선행연구의 한계와 대안까지 구상이 되었으니 글로 정리하면 된다. 예전에 읽어둔 책들도 다시 보면서 정리해야겠다.
