스위스 취리히대학교와 연계하는 성서학 박사과정 세미나로 올해부터 시작되었다. 나는 참석자로 참여할 예정이다.

희년서에서 칠칠절(The Feast of Weeks) 제정은 일명 노아 언약과 관련이 있다 (6:17-19). 노아 언약은 매년제(annual feast)로 드려야 하고, 언약 갱신을 목적으로 삼는다.

아브라함은 이스마엘의 출생(14:21-24)를 기념해 초실절(The Feast of Firstfruits)을 드린다 (15:1-2). 하나님은 사라가 아들을 낳고, 그는 국가를 이룰 것이라는 일명 아브라함 언약을 선포하신다 (15:3-16). 

아브라함은 초실절에 이삭을 낳고 (16:13), 초막절(The Feast of Tabernacles) 을 기념한다 (16:20-31).

초실절과 초막절을 통해 우리는 최소한 두 가지를 깨닫게 된다. 첫 번째, 초실절과 달리 초막절은 아브라함과 사라의 즐거움이 크다고 밝히고 있다 (16:19). 두 번째, 희년서에서 아브라함 언약은 이스마엘이 아닌 이삭을 향한 약속으로 설정되어 있음이 명확해진다 (15:21).

아브라함이 죽는 해에, 이삭과 이스마멜이 맹세의 우물 (the Well of the Oath, Beersheba)에서 칠칠절을 기념하는데, 이 절기를 초실절이라고 설명한다 (22:1).
